During our recent holiday in Fihalhohi we got to see how great is The passion for volleyball for the staff working on these small islands. Before leaving I had seen on the Facebook page of Fihalhohi that I follow regularly from HOME that the
Volleyball team of the island was proud to announce that it has won the game against the rival team of nearby Ohluveli. In our previous trips to the Maldives We had often attended matches of volleyball between a representative of players of the island and a makeshift team of tourists but we didn't know that there was this kind of events. A few days after our arrival we were invited by the waiters in the restaurant to go to attend the
Match between fihalhohi team and jumeira vittaveli, this match was the
semifinals of the tournament of the zone 2 and the winning team would then played the final. At 16.45 an attendant was waiting for tourists on reception to accompany them in the area reserved for the staff at the Centre of the island
Where The match would be held at 17 o' clock. When we entered on to staff quarters we understood how important this tournament is for them. On the walls of the dormitories are posted billboards with pictures of the winning teams of the volleyball and soccer tournaments between the Islands. There are captions of thanks for their results. It is clear that these events are very popular. The team of Fihalhohi won easily with a 3 sets to zero against the opposing team and thus qualified for the final match. The game was quiet and there was much cheering from supporters of the team. Guests partecipating to The event were spread of bands to be tied in front with the team name of our island. The victory has thus allowed the team to play the
Final, the opposing team was again Ohluveli. Also this game would be played in Fihalhohi and for
The opportunity the front desk sent an official invitation to the guests to join the game. Orange t shirt with the symbol of the 35 years of Fihalhohi and green belts Were distributed and lots of colorful balloons were tied around the field greens and orange. Supporters of olhuveli dressed pink and white shirts and the team wore black and orange, the colors of the Fihalhohi team are green and
Orange on a white background. All
Players have their own name on the T shirt. The match was exciting, especially since supporters of Fihalhohi was able to involve with enthusiasm the guests of the island. Singing, drums, even a metal tub
Was beaten to the rhythm of the choirs. On the last set has appeared even a mermaid, rooting it felt from every part of the island, it was very nice. At the end of the game great enthusiasm among the fans who Embraced each other and they applauded their team. Finally there is the podium and both teams
Have been awarded and the best players too. Then slowly the crowd of tourists is dispersed leaving the team
Celebrate with the direction of the island and the staff. The team will then meet the
Winner of the tournament
Area 1 Male Atoll, and the winning team will play then the final match in Male and will be the winner of all the Maldives. Us from home we will follow developments and of course force Fihalhohi!!

Treatments offered
Epicurean SPA Fihalhohi Fihalhohi on the occasion of the 35th anniversary opening made it big, a new jetty, they extended bar and restaurant, a new customer loyalty program and a new SPA. As I had already reviewed after the visit last year in 2015 the SPA was being enlarged. Now the SPA is ready and has been expanded. There are more working girls and often we see them go into uniform, always smiling. new treatments have been introduced and the range is now more complete. The massages range from typical Swedish massage or hot stone Oriental, thai, balinese, energizing up. they also Have a massage that mixes together several types of Ayurvedic and thai massage shiatsu, balinese culminating in a head massage, good price, I would recommend it. Reflexology, manicure pedicure are available. There are also various facial treatments, cleansing, moisturizing, refreshing technique with oils and lymphatic massage. Treatments can also be made with short or longer duration times and the price varies depending on the length of treatment. The SPA offers discounted packages of mini treatments such as massage or head massage of 25 minutes. Also you can do the treatment or the sauna and jacuzzi. You can also give a treatment
With the gift voucher. For last I recommend the treatment for sunburn that is typical of the Maldives where so many Europeans get sunburnt because they are not paying attention to the recommendations on the Sun and its intensity at this latitude. Treatment refreshes and helps skin cells to regenerate.
When we arrived they delivered two voucher in order to take advantage of an extension of 10 minutes of treatment if we booked a Swedish massage or balinese of thirty to fifty minutes within two days of our arrival. The treatment was available on time between 2 and 9 p.m. This discount is only and guests in the premium room. Who chose the all inclusive package can do a test massage of 15 minutes. These incentives are definitely nice to promote SPA

Dolphins
Sunset Dolphin cruise Fihalhohi 2016. Like last year we chose the premium room and received a complimentary excursion to choose between some activities from water sports and excursions. We could choose between catamaran excursion, windsurfing, canoeing, snorkeling Safari, glass bottom boat and other proposals. Our favorite remains the Sunset Cruise to look for dolphins. We booked this excursion. We were only 13 at the meeting point, last year the boat was full we were 28!!
We have positioned ourselves for upstairs. There was a wisp of air. The guide tells us that the morning in Rihiveli Lagoon they had viewed 5 manta rays and dolphins. But we're not going there as last year. We are moving further north. We crossed The atoll from Fihalhohi to Ohluveli with smooth sea and warm temperature then arrived at the other end of the atoll eventually got up a little wind. We passed the new resort recently opened on July 15 th by atmosphere (all over water with private pools, so much luxury and little sand) and we headed to the pass behind Guraidhoo. On the island you can see the guest house under construction now ultimate, even 3 floors!!
The waves are stretched and they increase in thickness, are the large ocean waves,of dolphins no sign. We go behind the Kandooma and the spectacular waves for surfers and we go towards byiadoo. Last year we found them right here but to not now. I fear that this time we won't be so lucky. Let's have another round in circles and we descend back toward the Kandooma. 3 other boats circling around. All looking like us. But the dolphins are not seen. Then in the distance 2 dips, a Pirouette. Here they are at last. We approach followed by other boats. It is a large herd, with many small. They swim in groups of 3. How exciting. Pass under the boat, jumping, we follow them, disappear and reappear and still dives and pirouettes. This show is always exciting no words that do justice to see all this. We turn around several times and then let them go into the blue. We are offered a hot drink, by now the Sun is setting. The boat points towards Fihalhohi. Dark and cloudy Sky. In the distance Rannalhi and Fihalhohi. Our journey goes quiet. Let's put on some clothing because
It is colder now . We arrive and Go to have dinner as the restaurant is already open, it's almost 8 pM. We are delighted by the spectacle that we saw. Thanks Fihalhohi for this latest wonderful emotion

Dolphin excursion Fihahlohi.
When we checked in we were offered a choice of Fihalhohi free half day excursion among those from their proposals. A pleasant surprise reserved for those of us who had booked a premium room. Among the excursions offered there are a guided snorkeling,
Excursion to the island of fishermen and the afternoon tour dolphins sightseen.Having a baby there appeared the best
Choice, though to be honest the dolphins often pass in front of the beach of Fihalhohi. We waited a few days to book because the weather was uncertain and the sea quite choppy then finally we were pardoned by good weather and booked an afternoon trip. The meeting was at 16.30, after the convocation and the appeal of all the rooms we were driven to dhoni where they counted us again and just as we were
Still docked and the engine is off it
Appeared next to us the fin of
A dolphin. And we thought it would be probably the only meeting ... Parties to the South we passed a sand spit and we reached the gate of beautiful Rihiveli, frequent sightings of dolphins area. But that day we found any dolphins nor their shadow. So after a few rounds we headed to
Ohluveli and Fun island chased by wind and clouds of bad omen, we could capture le palms of Ohluveli . the new resort in buildings on the island next to Fun island and its over water bungalow. It was told us that it will be super luxurious . still not a dolphins fin. We turned to the outer reef beyond
Kandooma and Guraidhoo but still no dolphin. Big waves riding by surfers are going to crash into the reef in an explosion of foam and few surfers have fun. Truly spectacular. Increasingly black sky and gentle breeze. No dolphin. Back in South male atoll towards the Cocoa and its wonderful rooms built on boats over water. It Is attractive also from the sea. I would love to visit it but even excursion whole day are challenging for your wallet. Here we stop, between byiadoo and the near island, the staff is deciding whether to make another turn or give up when
Finally appear a couple of
Fins,
The crowd is delirious and everyone starts to run from one side to another of the dhoni, you risk falling into the water!!
We chase the dolphins and we see other 2 pieces, turn a little around the boat and then we leave. We go home happy for about ten minutes then water in buckets. But the mission is accomplished and even if we get back a little late and
The restaurant is already open and is already serving dinner we are
Very happy. We thank the staff and we run to
Dine excited for this new gift that
Maldives have given us.

Dolphin manta excursion. Galvanized by the splendid excursion made a few days earlier and information about sightings of Manta Rays come about in these days we decide to participate in this new outing. 3 hours trip by dhoni. From 9 to 12. Cost 50 dollars per person and 25 per each children. Obviously no match is guaranteed but we want to try. We are presenting at the meeting point all agreed timetable, it is checked in by all participants, about twenty and head towards the pier to board the dhoni. It must be said that the new meeting point is no longer a nook in reception but they did a nice desk next to
The Diving, where they can explain the tours, there are a few chairs
Where to wait, there is more space than in reception and it is convenient to diving jetty. The diving jetty is in expansion, are doing a pier very big and there are work in progress. They also built many walls between here and water sports to stop some sand and leave some beach on this side.
We get on the dhoni, there is a small

When you book your next vacation to Fihalhohi pay attention to the choice without being too influenced by the price, the rooms are different and well worth evaluating before choosing their home.
The types of room are 4
overwater
Classic
Comfort
Premium
We start by overwater: the rooms are top
The structure, lie on
Northwest side of the island so if you want to enjoy the
Room the breathtaking sunsets ask the rooms on this side, on the other side will not see the sun go down in the sea but you will have more sun and you will easily see the dolphins spend the evening. The rooms of the overwater are all in teak, are the largest, with
Further options such as
The stereo and have a lovely veranda with table and chairs as well as sunbeds, the outer space and to 'small compared to other mega over water but in my opinion
It is' perfect for 2 people.
Guests of overwater have access to the same restaurant the beach rooms.
Before you choose these rooms which are among the most characteristic and unique on this island with the bathroom in Maldivian open-air style, ask yourself this question: I have a heavy sleeper? The sound of waves crashing against the stilts annoy me?
I tell you why I have often seen tourists who chose the overwater fall back on the beach because they disturbed by the waves, especially during the wet monsoon.
Returning from the jetty of
Water will meet the pretty little houses
TO
2 type comfort room floors.
The rooms are moderately priced beach. It is the most widespread on 'island. 4 Total rooms house 2 ground floor and 2 upstairs. Porch downstairs and upstairs balcony.
Unfortunately vegetation and 'thick and the sea does not look good from the houses but I think from the balconies of comfort sunset side
Vista is very impressive.
Pity that in summer this side
It is eroded and is difficult to access the ta sea mangroves.
Many guests who sleep on this side go to the beach close to over water.
The staff is taking steps with stone walls on the side restraints water center, we hope to help to stem erosion L, which has increased in
Last years.
These rooms have
The bathtub, the bathroom
Closed, mini bar. There
implemented version of these rooms are the premium, are located in the near the front desk, small houses to a floor or two floors, have only kettle slippers and bathrobes, and most X products the bathroom than the deluxe version. The walls are painted bright colors and there's a picture on the wall, carpet chairs and desks to complete the
Room features. There
price difference is' little. I personally have stayed in
Room 21 which I think is the
Room with the
Best location of the island,
The beach there and 'wonderful, is' close to services and from the veranda you can see the sea ... You' lovely, for this room is worth the extra money but for those first next to their reception not. They do not have a beach or shred
The sea front and you have to move with the sun to bathe.
Also near the main services and then passes often people are not quiet as the others.
The quieter are
surely
Comfort side of sunset or to the south, after diving, but
There too little beach.
The fourth solution, the more basic and therefore always full are the Classic.
Are the most antiquated room, some are in need of restructuring, the innermost are a bit 'too far away from the sea ... You have to walk a few more meters to get to the beach. They are one-story, paired.
The veranda and 'very small, just room for two small chairs and a drying rack. The comfort and the premium have much larger verandas
And beautiful.
inside
The
Bed and a desk, two chairs is a table at the entrance.
A dressing room divides
Room from the bathroom, here is the mini bar.
The Bathroom has a shower and sink water.
Simple functional a bit 'dated but nice. I forgot, the rooms are all equipped with air conditioning

not on the sea
The SPA at Fihalhohi is close to overwater, behind the sports center and the sunset bar. They are made of the extension work that will surely make bigger SPA is cozier.
When I went to visit her there was no operator at reception, staff will probably have counted and they were all working in the cabin.
L 'environment is good, is simple but comfortable, all the teak wood. Beautiful shop windows lit by spotlights offer for sale the products that are used to 'inside of the SPA.
The treatments are the classic relaxing massages and scrubs to prepare all 'tan skin.
Priced accordingly. Booths indoors and no sea view. Who has the premium room can enjoy a discount on the first treatment. Not being offered a mini trial treatment as the coconut SPA. I did not find any particularly interesting treatment it 'l' sufficiently inviting setting X to try something.
Surely the SPA works well because I heard positive opinions and if the cabins are filled certainly is positive sign.
I was amazed that unlike other resort operators are never around the resort to advertise their services. In other resort the advertising 'is made directly from the property while in other more' economic style the operators themselves are promoting spa treatments.
On this island instead I not never seen the banquet with the girls explaining the treatments.
In general I have had few opportunities to meet any operator of the spa.
I got to see how they are lavishing for the wedding which was celebrated on the beach.
Throughout the resort has participated in the event. The girls of the Spa had coiffed the hair of the bride and made up and decorated with flowers. It has been beautiful. I hope I could see again other beach weddings.

Having to go home......
We arrive in Male at 15.20 after a perfect flight with Omanair, offerred practices in the airport waiting for us at the exit our contact person to whom we have "stolen" 10 minutes to go to take the sim and recharge .... way race to the fast boat just waiting for us to leave.
After a first time when the sea was heard a lot, once nell'atollo South Male navigation was quieter and we were able to relax watching the various islands we met along the way.
Just landed we were greeted by the resort staff with cool towels, snacks and the inevitable cocktail coconut, key delivery (wow .... just the room I had asked !!!) and the pleasant surprise of the package containing the giveaways MT ..... thanks again!
We speak of our room: Comfort room, basic but very clean and spacious, with arm chairs and coffee table, mini fridge, safe and other surfaces very useful as the cabinet is not very spacious, quite large and comfortable and the bathroom on the front, right on the beautiful beach the porch with two chairs, a coffee table, the drying of wood and hand shower x rinse your feet also present at the entrance at the back. On the inner courtyard we found our deckchairs numbered that can be accommodated on the beach where you want.
About the beach ...... unfortunately not around the whole island, but where is this is pretty plentiful. candida ... well ....... wonderful!
Taking as reference the arrival jetty, on the right you meet the first 4 units to 1 floor (room 1/8) close enough to the sea but no beach then from 9 to 35 (the best) unit with 1 or 2 floors that overlook beach big and deep and close to the reef, from 39 to 64 are standard rooms, very nice but smaller and immersed in the vegetation but far enough to the sea which is accessed by trails like the one that leads to the small SPA and the 8 ow very cute! Continuing on the beach are the Surf Cafe, Blue Lagoon Bar, and Aeolus Water sports. From this point the beach is almost absent, there are some small creeks hardly accessible and anti-erosion walls (84/136) continuing meet the diving center, the Restaurant Palm Groove, Fisherman Bar where the evening entertainment are offered very soft, the Reception and we're back at the pier of arrival! (It 'another small jetty service that is used by diving)
At the Restaurant Palm Groove are consumed all meals, at breakfast the choice is varied on salty, a little 'less on sweets. Lunch and dinner are always cooked pasta at the time, grilled meat or fish and a decent selection of foods often spiced, cooked and raw vegetables, fruit and pastries. We enjoyed the experience, to note that the table will be allocated on arrival at your disposal for the duration of stay and if you are a couple, you'll have to share a table with other guests.
The island is very well maintained, excellent cleaning in rooms and common areas, all the staff are very nice and I want to congratulate the guys on reception because they are all very well prepared and efficient (there is also a guy who speaks discreetly Italian).
The weather was beautiful, days with clear skies, calm seas and evening starry sky and moon that illuminated the lagoon! Only the last two days we had some clouds and a few showers, but overall, being August, we were really lucky.
Finally ..... the sea !!!
I kept it for last because this year the Indian Ocean has given us many wonderful emotions, spend hours and hours to snorkel and discover something new, we met turtles, sea eagle, moray eel, octopus many there have joy in their ability to change appearance and color to blend with the environment, many anemones with their clownfish about ..... beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
Furthermore, aided by the flat sea, we have seen many times the dolphins pass in front of our beach and it is always exciting to watch their evolutions ... and one afternoon we saw also an orca that has hovered in the sea between our island and Biyadhoo. .. and then disappear and come back later in the evening ....! What good memories! About memories ..... will you find in the evening on the beach illuminated by the moon, many hermit crabs, crabs, the whisper of the sea ... that gently brings the sand many blue lights ...... plankton that lights the beach!

Great Beaches
I stayed in Fihalhohi in June 2010 with my Mum and Sister. Having previously stayed in Sun Island I think for Mum it was a little too easy going for her with not enough to keep her occupied.
The room we had was spacious, well kept and maintained and immaculately cleaned daily.
We spent most evenings in the bar and always preferred to opt for the outside tables but they were very popular.
The drinks prices were reasonable (we were FB) and the service in the bar great but not outstanding which in the smaller relaxed islands I always seem to find a more personal service.
The island is very relaxed, no dressing up and very unpretentious. During our time there I would say it was a balance of English and German. Many guests seem to be of the same inclination of wanting a relaxed island with great snorkeling.
I found the snorkeling great but not in comparison to Embudu and Biyadhoo but then it's all dependent on how lucky you are, the time of year and how much time you want to put into it. As I don't spend much time with my family snorkeling wasn't a priority.
The island appearance is very natural which I love, from afar it doesn't look like a resort till you see the Water bungalow platform (small and tucked at the back so don't let it put you off). The big mast in the middle I appreciate is essential but spoils the view of the island approach.
I love the swings and hammocks dotted about for lazing in. There were plenty of sunbeds and more than enough beach space for everyone. The heavy density of greenery also gives good shading but is a breeding ground for the mosquitos (luckily they turn their noses up at me) so I would recommend a good repellent and plug ins for the room if they tend to irritate you.
Our transfer was on a more bouncy day than most but all part of the fun, clears the sluggishness after the long flight. (direct from Manchester during the Thomson days). I was a very short wait at the airport and well managed by the First Choice rep Zita (still the rep for Fihalhohi and an absolute gem!)
The excursion program was varied and I found the pricing to be less than most islands but as a 3* they are realistic with their guest budgets.
The food for me was not the strong point of Fihalhohi, the chefs were very friendly but I found the choice a little disappointing. Our waiter was fantastic though so mealtimes were not a bad experience by any stretch. As the visit was over two years ago there may have been improvements on the food so don't be put off.
Overall it served the purpose of some nice relaxing days spent with the nearest and dearest. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again and in fact have had a chance to visit for a couple of hours lately and there seems to be continuous improvements from the service side in reception. I wouldn't go with the family again though as it's just too laid back for them but will be perfect for many.
