Gadhdhoo (Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll)

Overview

Gadhdhoo is an inhabited island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll administrative division and geographically in the Huvadhoo Atoll in the southern part of the Maldives. It is an island-level administrative constituency in upper south province, governed by the Gadhdhoo island Council.

Gadhdhoo is famous for its thundukunaa. The intricately woven mats are produced from a reed called hau. Gadhdhoo was the atoll capital of the Gaaf Dhaalu atoll in 1960s. Later the atoll capital was moved to Thinadhoo island in same atoll.
